Update on Robstown Deputy Involved Shooting
Nueces County Precinct Five Constables
ROBSTOWN, TEXAS (News Release) - Earlier this morning a twenty-seven-year-old male driving a white Nissan was observed on Northwest Boulevard driving erratically. Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle fled and CCPD Police terminated the pursuit.
The driver of the white Nissan continued West on Northwest Blvd. towards Bluntzer at a high rate of speed.
Precinct Five Deputies and State Troopers were in the area and picked up the pursuit headed West.

Durning the pursuit, the driver of the vehicle opened fire on pursuing deputies. The vehicle was lost temporarily in the area of Easley Lane but with the assistance of CCPD Drone Unit, the vehicle was once again located.
The driver of the Nissan then drove into a private property on the 6400 block of Easley Lane where troopers and Precinct 5 Deputies followed and attempted to block-in the vehicle. The subject in the Nissan then shot at the state troopers units with a handgun which was later recovered from the vehicle .
State troopers and a Precinct Five Deputy returned fire striking the suspect and his vehicle in attempts to stop the threat.

The driver later identified as Rob Thomas Garza, was transported to area hospital with gunshot wounds and is said to be in critical condition as of last update.
No deputies or troopers were injured during this critical incident.
Nueces County Precinct Five deputies had been placed on administrative leave pending investigation by Texas Rangers.
Garza is no stranger to law enforcement in the area. He was last arrested back in December of 2023 and was charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Controlled Substance by one of our deputies.
