Traffic Crash Report on FM 70 and Business 77

BISHOP, TEXAS (News Release) - According to Constable Jimmy Rivera, Precinct 3, a traffic accident occurred Monday, February 9, at approximately 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of FM 70 and Business 77.

A small sedan traveling westbound on FM 70 struck a small SUV ahead of it, causing both vehicles to spin violently upon impact. The female driver of the sedan became trapped and was rescued by ESD-3 personnel. The male driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries. Both injured parties were transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital. The roadway was later cleared.
Constable Rivera expressed his appreciation to the citizens who stopped to assist at the scene. Several individuals helped direct traffic and provide aid, significantly improving safety for those involved.
Special thanks were extended to Jack Kaufman for taking over traffic control until Bishop Police Department officers and multiple units from the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office arrived. Additional recognition was given to ESD-3 for rescuing the trapped driver, an off-duty EMS responder who stopped to render aid, and ESD-6 for providing ambulance and EMT services.
“Those who stopped and immediately went to work made a real difference,” Rivera said. “I can’t thank you all enough for your selfless actions.”
