$165K Seized in Early 2026 Operation

 

Kleberg County Attorney’s Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force

KLEBERG COUNTY, TEXAS (News Release) - On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Task Force agents were actively conducting enforcement operations under Operation Stonegarden and Operation Lone Star along Highway 77. During these operations, Special Agent E. Gonzalez initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle displaying Mexican license plates in Ricardo, Texas.

While speaking with the occupants a mother and son, both residents of Matamoros, Tamaulipas; Special Agent Gonzalez developed reasonable suspicion to believe that they were involved in criminal activity. Special Agent M. Galvan and Assistant Commander R. Sanchez responded to assist with the traffic stop.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of an aftermarket compartment concealed within the dashboard area. Agents accessed the compartment and located six (6) bundles of U.S. currency destined for Mexico. A total of $165,921.00 was seized.
