Orange Grove Man Arrested on Child Sexual Assault

ORANGE GROVE, TEXAS (News Release) - A 36-year-old Orange Grove man has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of child sexual assault, according to the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation began on Monday, July 6, 2026, when Jim Wells County Sheriff's deputies responded to allegations of a sexual assault. After completing a preliminary investigation, the case was turned over to the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.
Investigators worked in partnership with the Child Advocacy Center of Kingsville, Child Protective Services, and Driscoll Children's Hospital to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

Authorities say investigators developed sufficient probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Christopher Tramel, 36, of Orange Grove, charging him with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and four counts of Abandoning or Endangering a Child.
The arrest warrant was executed on Thursday, July 16, 2026, by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, working alongside Jim Wells County Sheriff's investigators. Tramel was taken into custody in the Corpus Christi area without incident.
He is expected to be transferred to the Jim Wells County Jail, where he will face the pending charges.
