Officer Involved Shooting on Nov. 13

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - At approximately 2:08 am on November 13, 2022, officers responded to an emergency backup call for two officers working in a duty capacity at a bar located on the 5800 block of S Staples.

Investigation of the incident found that one of the off-duty officers had been assaulted, during which time the officer was forced to discharge his weapon, striking one adult male.

Officers administered medical assistance to the offender on scene until medics arrived.

Both offender and officer were transported to local hospitals, with non-life-threatening injuries.

The offender is expected to be charged with one count of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer.

This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Corpus Christi Police Criminal Investigation Division. Several witnesses are being interviewed at this time. 

Two Corpus Christi Police Officers will been placed on paid administrative leave at this time in accordance with department practice and policy.
