National Community Development Week
CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) - Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo has proclaimed the week of April 5 as National Community Development Week to recognize and celebrate the impact of the City’s work using the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program.
Over the past year, our community has received more than $2.7 million in CDBG funds and over $1.1 million in HOME funds. The following are just a few significant accomplishments that have been reported as a result of these resources:
Over 38 low-moderate income single-family homes were rehabilitated with the Minor Home Repair Program.
Six first time homebuyers used HOME funds for the down payment to purchase their single-family dwelling.
Two residential demolition/reconstruction projects were completed with three additional projects currently under construction.
A new 82-unit rental community was built with 70 of the units planned to house citizens who earn 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
During National Community Development Week, the Grant Monitoring Division will continue working on a series of projects that will help the community of Corpus Christi continue to grow.
