Former TAMUK Javelina wins Professional Wrestling Championship


Former Texas A&M University-Kingsville Javelina basketball player and Rio Grande Valley native Raquel Gonzalez is the new NXT Women’s Champion.

She defeated Io Shirai as part of the Main Event on night one of the NXT Takeover: Stand and Deliver pay-per-view.

NXT is known as the developmental brand of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

Gonzalez played basketball for the Javelinas from 2010 to 2012.

She signed an NXT developmental contract in October of 2016, and made her Pay-Per-View debut on Television as her persona in February of 2020.
