Narcotics Investigators Receive Letters of Commendation
Corpus Christi Police Department
Corpus Christi Police Department Narcotics Investigators worked closely with DEA to target the Chad Wesevich Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO). This organization was responsible for the distribution of fentanyl-laced drugs in the Coastal Bend. DEA described this operation as the largest and most productive counterfeit pill investigation in the Southern District of Texas.
The operation led to eleven search warrants being served and 49 arrests on state and federal charges. One of the individuals was able to bond out and flee to Ecuador. After several months, the fugitive was apprehended and extradited back to the United States. She is the first federal fugitive in over 20 years to be extradited to the United States from Ecuador on federal drug charges.
The investigation not only resulted in arrests and the dismantling of the Wesevich Drug Trafficking Organization, but it also resulted in a significant seizure of drugs and property. Investigators seized two industrial pill presses, thousands of counterfeit pills, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana/THC products and assets worth $2,000,000.00.
During the investigation, investigators identified ten overdose victims who died because of fentanyl-laced pills and heroin distributed by the Wesevich Drug Trafficking Organization. The operation sought justice for the families of victims who lost their lives to the poison circulated by Chad Wesevich and his co-conspirators.
