CCRTA Will Offer Free Bus Rides for Students

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) will begin offering fare-free rides for grade-school students (Pre-K through 12th grade) beginning September 1st, 2023. Students must show their Student ID when boarding to receive fare-free transportation. Private, homeschooled, and any student utilizing CCRTA’s fixed routes are all eligible for fare-free transportation.

“Transportation should not be a barrier to a quality education. The CCRTA Board of Directors is proud to announce that every student using our system can now ride fare-free with a student ID, beginning September 1. Our community’s future generations will now be able to utilize our system to get where they need to go and have one less barrier on their path toward success,” stated Dan Leyendecker, CCRTA Board Chair.

“Riding the bus is one of the safest ways to travel. CCRTA continues to have a police and security presence at transfer stations, on buses, and throughout our system. We’ve been nationally recognized for our safety efforts over the last two years by the American Public Transportation Association,” said Derrick Majchszak, CCRTA’s Chief Executive Officer.

New riders can download the GoPass Mobile App to plan their trip and keep up with the latest service updates. For more information, please visit ccrta.org.
