On August 23rd, 2023, with the assistance of Aransas Pass PD, Texas DPS, DEA and ATF, Moreno was taken into custody during a traffic stop. At the time of the arrest, Moreno was in possession of 14.9 grams of what appeared to be the prescription drug Xanax (Alprazolam). The tablets did not appear to be commercially manufactured, and field testing showed the tablets contained the lethal drug Fentanyl. During the arrest officers also located: 229 grams Psilocybin Candy Edibles, 270.6 grams THC Vape Oil, 17.1 grams THC Wax, and 17.94 ounces of Marihuana. Moreno was booked into the Aransas County Detention Center on multiple charges related to the Manufacture and Delivery of Controlled Substances.

Later the same day, RPD Detectives assisted in executing a search warrant at Moreno’s residence in Corpus Christi. Items seized during the search warrant include multiple firearms, a large amount of US currency, 1650 tablets of suspected Fentanyl, 13.6lbs of Psilocybin (Psychedelic Mushroom) Candy Edibles, 1.86lbs THC Wax, 2.95lbs THC Candy, .75lbs THC Vape Cartridges and 8.1lbs of Marihuana. Further charges are pending for Moreno along with the arrest of additional suspects.

Fentanyl is approximately 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times more potent than heroin as an analgesic. In August of 2022, RPD investigated the accidental overdose death of a juvenile who consumed a Fentanyl-laced substance.
