Del Mar College names Elisa Olsen Vice President of Communication and Marketing

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - Del Mar College (DMC) has named Elisa Olsen its new vice president of communication and marketing, bringing an experienced higher education communication and marketing leader to the college’s executive leadership team.

Olsen, who most recently served as director of communications for the City of Corpus Christi, will join Del Mar College on Aug. 24. In her new role, she will oversee the College Relations Office, which encompasses communication, marketing, events, student recruitment and enrollment.
With more than 27 years of experience spanning higher education, public-sector communications, media relations and strategic marketing, she brings extensive experience to the role. Her higher education career includes senior leadership positions as chief marketing officer at Lone Star College and assistant vice president of university relations at the University of Houston-Downtown as well as marketing and communications positions at Sam Houston State University and the University of Houston.
Her work has focused on strengthening institutional reputation, advancing enrollment priorities, engaging internal and external audiences and building meaningful connections between institutions and the communities they serve.
“With Elisa’s extensive experience in higher education and familiarity with the Coastal Bend, she brings a valuable perspective to Del Mar College as we continue advancing our strategic priorities, strengthening enrollment and telling the story of the college’s impact throughout our community,” Del Mar College President and CEO Mark Escamilla said.
Olsen holds a bachelor’s degree in technology leadership from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Sam Houston State University. She has led teams recognized by the American Marketing Association for excellence in marketing, including Crystal Awards for online marketing and nonprofit event campaigns.
