Roma CBP Officers Seize Over 1,000 Pounds of Methamphetamine Concealed Within Detergent Shipment

ROMA, TEXAS (News Release) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Roma Port of Entry seized more than $9 million in methamphetamine in a single enforcement action.
“Our officers’ commitment to secure our borders continue with ongoing enforcement actions,” said Port Director Andres Guerra. “Their dedication, vigilance, and professionalism demonstrate their determination to keep our communities and country safe.”
The seizure occurred on Aug. 11 at the Roma International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2012 tractor trailer hauling laundry detergent for an enforcement inspection. A nonintrusive imaging system scan revealed anomalies within the shipment. Upon closer physical examination, CBP officers discovered 240 packages containing a total of 485.78 kilograms of alleged methamphetamine concealed within the cargo.
The narcotics have an estimated street value of $9,573,752.24.
CBP turned the narcotics, tractor trailer, and driver over to Roma Police Department, who initiated a criminal investigation.
