Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation Expands MedSafe Drop-Off
Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation
THREE RIVERS, TEXAS (News Release) - The Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation is proud to announce the installation of a new MedSafe Medication Disposal Box, providing the community with a safe, convenient, and environmentally responsible way to dispose of unused or expired medications.
Rates of prescription drug abuse in the United States are alarmingly high. Most abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. Unused prescription medication in homes creates public health and safety concerns. They are highly susceptible to accidental ingestion, diversion, misuse and abuse. Many unwanted medications piled up because there was no safe or secure way to dispose of them, especially in rural areas where medication disposal boxes are not readily available or accessible.

Located at Campbell Drug Store, 101 W Thornton St. Three Rivers, TX, the MedSafe Box is available Monday – Friday 9:00 am to 6:00pm and allows individuals to drop off unwanted medications without cost or hassle. The installation of the MedSafe Box was made available through the generosity of the Coastal Bend Council of Governments.
This initiative is part of CBWF’s commitment to public health and safety, helping to reduce prescription drug misuse and prevent environmental contamination. “The MedSafe Box provides an easy solution for proper medication disposal, ensuring that unused prescriptions do not end up in the wrong hands or harm our environment,” said Alison Johnson, Director of Community Health Outreach. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of this service to help keep our community safe.”
