Falfurrias Fire Department

BROOKS COUNTY, TEXAS (News Release) - Falfurrias firefighters and multiple emergency agencies are battling an active wildfire Tuesday evening in western Brooks County near The Dos Pistolas.

According to the Falfurrias Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the fire after a reported controlled burn got out of control. The total acreage affected was not immediately known.

The fire remained uncontained as of approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, and firefighters were facing unfavorable conditions that could make the fire more difficult to control.

Multiple agencies from across the Coastal Bend were either on scene or en route to assist with firefighting operations.

The Falfurrias Fire Department is urging motorists and residents in the area to stay clear of the fire and allow emergency vehicles and personnel to move through the area safely.

Officials are also asking the public not to interfere with emergency operations as firefighters work to protect nearby communities, property and lives.

The fire department said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
