Welfare Check Nets Drug Bust and Two Arrests

ARANSAS PASS (News Release) - On Monday, May 8, 2023, Aransas Pass Police Officer Camack was monitoring traffic in the 1300 Block of West Wheeler when he was flagged down and alerted to subjects observed unresponsive at the Wheelie Wash carwash.
The reporter told Camack the car and subjects had been there for several hours.
Officer Camack responded and found the male and female unresponsive. Along with them were drug paraphernalia and a firearm inside a holster in plain view.
Officers woke the two up and identified them. They searched the vehicle and located around 17 grams of fentanyl, 5 grams of meth, and 10 grams of suspected heroin. The handgun was determined to be a BB gun. The two were arrested, and the drugs were seized.
The 29 YOA male, a resident of the Austin area, was booked in for possession of a controlled substance in PG #1 between 4-200 grams. The 30 YOA female, a resident of the Austin area, initially lied about her identity to avoid being caught with a warrant for drugs.
