Nueces County District Attorney's Criminal Interdiction Unit

ROBSTOWN (News Release) - On Saturday July 22nd, a K9 officer assigned to the Nueces County District Attorney's Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on a Truck tractor semi-trailer traveling southbound on US Hwy 77 in Robstown Texas.

While speaking with the driver, the Officer developed reasonable suspicion to believe that criminal activity was occurring. He asked for and was granted consent to search the Truck. While searching, officers noticed tampering on the power divider axel. A further search using a fiber optic scope reviled the presence of contraband inside the modified axel.

The search was moved to a secure location where the power divider was taken apart. Inside the power divider officers observed modifications to differential (all gears had been removed) and that 3 bundles containing US Currency were concealed within the modified power divider.

The driver was arrested and turned over to federal agents for future prosecution.
