Traffic Stop Uncovers Stolen Firearm in Routine Check

 

San Patricio County Sheriff's Office

SINTON, TEXAS (News Release) - On Monday, March 31, 2025, during a routine traffic violation stop of a vehicle, San Patricio County Sheriff's deputies noticed an open container of an alcoholic beverage. As a result of the stop, a stolen loaded weapon from League City, Texas was recovered.

The driver was also in possession of a Controlled Substance in his wallet.

Benjamin Zuniga Maldonado (37) was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a stolen firearms.

He remains in jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
