State Farm Donates Smoke Detectors

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - The Corpus Christi Fire Department has received a donation of over 60 smoke detectors from State Farm to help protect residents in the event of a fire. Firefighters will now be equipped to offer and install smoke detectors in homes at no cost to the occupants.
The initiative reinforces the City’s commitment to public safety and proactive service. When fire crews respond to a call and identify a safety risk due to a missing smoke detector, they can provide fire safety education and immediate assistance by installing one of the donated devices on-site.
“This donation strengthens our ability to protect residents beyond the initial emergency call,” said Fire Chief Brandon Wade. “Fire prevention starts at home, and a working smoke detector can be the difference between life and death. Thanks to this partnership with State Farm, our firefighters are better equipped to safeguard our community every day.”
According to the National Fire Prevention Association, roughly 38% of home fire deaths result from fires without smoke alarms. By bridging this gap during routine service calls, the department aims to improve and educate on fire safety across the city.
