Crime Control and Prevention District Budget
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – Last week, the Corpus Christi City Council approved the FY 2026 Crime Control and Prevention District Budget, which amounts to $11,245,362.
The budget allocates funds for:
78 officers
Nine replacement vehicles
Equipment to support both
The Corpus Christi Crime Control and Prevention District is an initiative approved by voters. The current term is scheduled to end on April 1, 2027. Local voters will have the opportunity to renew this initiative during the November 2026 election. This would continue the 1/8 cent sales tax to fund the District and provide additional funds to enhance law enforcement efforts in the City of Corpus Christi.
A financial plan is in place to transition 15 police officer positions to the General Fund over FY 2027 and FY 2028.
“Public safety remains one of our highest priorities, and this budget reflects that commitment,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “By investing in our officers, equipment, and resources, we are making sure Corpus Christi remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family. I want to thank our residents for their continued support of the Crime Control and Prevention District—it’s a partnership that strengthens our entire community.”
