CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - The Corpus Christi City Council awarded a $5,880,000 contract to Victory Building Team of Corpus Christi to construct the Southside Police Substation. Funding for the project is from the Bond 2022 and Bond 2024 Prop C – Public Safety funds.

The Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) currently does not have a police substation in the southside area of the city. The new facility will be near the Del Mar College Oso Creek Campus, near the intersection of Rodd Field Road and Yorktown Boulevard.

The 7,287-square-foot substation will include a lobby, reception area, interview room, briefing room, armory storage, evidence storage, office workstations, conference room, break room, locker room, showers, restrooms, support spaces, and a UTV/bicycle storage garage.

This project also includes building a new entrance to the Del Mar College Oso Creek Campus to improve site accessibility.

“The awarding of the construction contract for the Southside Police Station marks another significant step in our continued commitment to public safety and efficient service delivery,” said Mayor Paulette Guajardo. “This facility will ensure that our police officers have the resources they need to serve and protect our growing Southside community. Together, we are building a stronger, safer Corpus Christi.”

"The new Southside Police Station represents a pivotal step forward in our commitment to the safety and well-being of our community,” Corpus Christi Police Department Chief Mike Markle said. “By enhancing our presence and accessibility in this area, we are not only investing in law enforcement but also in the trust and security of our residents. This station will serve as a vital resource for our citizens, ensuring they feel protected and supported daily."

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring, with an expected completion in summer 2026.
