3/27/25-FLASH FLOOD IN EFFECT. Abundant Gulf moisture combined with a slow moving storm system will bring the potential for multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms, some with very heavy rainfall. The rain will continue tonight through Friday morning before ending. Given the hard dry soil from the lack of rainfall over the past several months, there is a potential for this heavy rain to quickly run off producing flash flooding.

Local Homeless Agencies to Open Short-Term Shelter for Homeless

CORPUS CHRISTI – The City of Corpus Christi, in partnership with the American Red Cross, Mother Teresa Shelter, and the Gulf Coast Humane Society, is opening a short-term shelter for homeless and others in need of shelter at the Convention Center Exhibit Hall B at the American Bank Center, 1901 N. Shoreline Boulevard.

The short-term shelter will open at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, and remain open continuously through the extreme cold weather event.

The short-term shelter can accommodate men, women, and families. Patrons will undergo a temperature check upon entry. Social distancing will be enforced, and masks will be provided and must always be worn. Other Center for Disease Control COVID-19 protocol will be followed.   

Meals and water will be provided onsite.

Pets are not allowed but volunteers are on-call to transport pets to be kenneled at the Gulf Coast Humane Society until they can be reunited with their owners.
