Nueces County Precinct 3 & Bishop Police Department

ROBSTOWN - (News Release) During a traffic stop with Robstown Police Department, a suspect driving a black Chevrolet fled from officers.

At approximately 1:14PM, on Monday, February 14, 2022, Officers from Bishop Police Department and Nueces County Precinct 3 Constables Office responded to assist Robstown Police Department units on a vehicle pursuit that began in their city and continued southbound on U.S. Highway 77, towards Bishop, Texas.

As the pursuit neared the city of Driscoll, Texas, pursuing units determined the traffic conditions (congestion / construction) were too dangerous to continue and the primary agency terminated the pursuit.

However, the suspect vehicle continued south on U.S. Highway 77 into Driscoll, where it continued to drive erratically and struck another vehicle, causing minor injuries.

The suspect vehicle then continued south on highway 77 into the city of Bishop, where BPD officers set up stop sticks (spikes) in an attempt to safely stop the suspect.

Prior to getting to the intersection where officers had set up spikes, the vehicle (2021 Chevy Silverado) stalled on the highway and the driver fled on foot, leaving the vehicle in the roadway. An Off-Duty Officer conducting traffic control in the area observed the suspect running from the scene and detained him until additional units arrived.

The suspect was transported back to the scene and positively identified by the primary pursuing officers.

The suspect was arrested and later transported to jail by Robstown PD officers. He faces multiple criminal charges, to include Evading Arrest / Detention (Motor Vehicle), Evading Arrest / Detention (Foot), and additional criminal charges are expected to be filed.

The vehicle was impounded on scene and later processed at the Robstown PD impound lot.

If you witnessed this incident or have any additional information regarding this case, please contact Robstown Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at (361) 387-3531.
