NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS - (News Release) On Aug. 23rd, fire crews from both Station 71 and 72 were dispatched to a residential structure fire. Black smoke was visible to all incoming responders en route to the location. When firefighters arrived, they found a large, 2-story barn (situated at the back of the property) with heavy smoke and flames showing through the roof. Mutual aid was requested from Bluntzer Fire Department and NCESD#3. Firefighters were able to gain access and knock the fire down before it spread to nearby exposures and the surrounding brush landscape. Fortunately for the family, the sole occupant from the 2nd story apartment was able to escape prior to the fire growing out of control.
