Reopening of Municipal Marina Boat Ramp
Press Release
CORPUS CHRISTI – The City of Corpus Christi announces the reopening of the west side of the Municipal Marina Boat Ramp, located at Coopers Alley L-Head. The boat ramp is ready for pleasure and commercial craft to use for a variety of activities along the bayfront and throughout the Corpus Christi Bay.
“I am pleased to announce the completion of repairs to give residents and visitors full access to the boat ramp. The boat ramp has been a vital part of the Corpus Christi Marina for many years offering easy access to Corpus Christi Bay”, stated Marina Manager Jonathan Atwood.
The boat ramp was damaged by the high tides and waves from Hurricane Hanna in July of 2020. The east side of the boat ramp sustained less damage and was able to be opened shortly after the storm. The west side of the boat ramp sustained major damage that sheared the ramp off the bulkhead and the floating docks. The ramp sat unusable due to the damage for seven months. With a change of leadership at the Marina, the ramp was quickly evaluated, and parts placed on order to make the cost-effective repairs.
"I am delighted to see the boat ramp reopen for community use. Your City Council and I are committed to revitalizing our marina and improved boat ramps are another step in the right direction," said Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo.
