SOUTH TEXAS - Yesterday, various communities around the Coastal Bend and South Texas honored the memory of the lives lost and the heroes who emerged on September 11, 2001.

In Kingsville and Bishop, Turcotte-Piper Mortuary provided lunch to Kleberg County Sheriff's Office, Bishop Police Department, and other emergency service personal who were on duty.

At Texas A&M University Kingsville, members of the Kingsville Police Department and SWAT team participated in a memorial climb at Javelina football stadium. TAMUK Rec Sports, Javelina Athletics, and Naval Air Station Kingsville MWR hosted the event.

According to Wikipedia, “In the aftermath of the attacks, carried out by terrorists from Al-Qaeda, President George W. Bush proclaimed Friday, September 14, 2001, as a National week of Prayer and Remembrance for the Victims of the Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001.”

September 11 is now known as Patriot Day and National Day of Service in the United States.
