Overnight Fatality Accident

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - (News Release) On Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 2:21am, officers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident at the 7000 block of Wooldridge Road.
When officers arrived, they found that a white passenger car had struck an electric pole, snapping the pole, and the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The front seat passenger, a 21-year-old male, was able to exit the vehicle but the driver, an unknown male, was unable to exit the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries on scene. The passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators with the Traffic Unit arrived on scene to investigate the crash. They found that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound through the intersection through a green light. It is unknown, other than the high rate of speed, what caused the vehicle to lose control and crash into the pole.
