CBP Officers Intercept Narcotics Worth Over $500K

Packages containing nearly 21 pounds of
methamphetamine seized by CBP officers at
Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
EAGLE PASS (News Release) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry intercepted a noteworthy amount of hard narcotics with an estimated street value of $500,091 in one enforcement action at the Camino Real International Bridge II.
“Our CBP officers’ knowledge of concealment methods, combined with their use of available assets played a key role in the discovery of these dangerous drugs,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the Camino Real International Bridge II when a CBP officer referred a 1999 GMC Savana 1500 van driven by a 54-year-old male United States citizen for a secondary examination. A canine and physical inspection of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a total of 13 packages. One package containing 2.2 pounds of alleged brown heroin, two packages containing four pounds of alleged white heroin and 10 packages containing 20.8 pounds of alleged crystal methamphetamine.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle.
The driver was arrested and the case was turned over to Maverick County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
