Officer Charged with Official Oppression

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division obtained a warrant for Official Oppression (Texas PC 39.03, Class A Misdemeanor) for Police Officer Frederick Garcia. The warrant was obtained in reference to an incident that occurred in the workplace on July 5, 2026.

The incident was self-reported by the officer involved and was quickly investigated and determined to be a criminal offense.  As with all allegations of criminal officer misconduct, we work closely with our state and federal partners to ensure a thorough investigation. 

The case was presented to the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office who accepted charges of Official Oppression. The Corpus Christi Police Department does not condone misconduct or actions that violate our policies, law, or the public’s trust.

This is currently an active and open investigation.  The Corpus Christi Police Department takes all allegations of crime and misconduct seriously and investigates them thoroughly in accordance with applicable laws and department policy.
