NUECES COUNTY, TEXAS - (News Release) On October 10, 2024 at approximately 3:15pm, Nueces County Sheriff’s Office deputies, while conducting traffic interdiction operations on U.S. Highway 77, initiated a traffic stop on Hwy. 77 North bound on a tractor trailer rig for an equipment violation on the trailer (no turn signal).

Sgt. Rudy Gonzales and his canine partner Hera conducted an open-air search of the tractor and trailer at which time Hera alerted on the trailer. Due to the alert by K9 Hera, it was determined that a more thorough investigation of the tractor and trailer was warranted. Upon additional investigation and a search of the trailer deputies located and seized 50 bundles of methamphetamine totaling 118 lbs. with a street value of $107,000.

This is an ongoing investigation.
