High Speed Chase ends in Robstown

 

Nueces County Precinct Five Constable

ALICE/ROBSTOWN (News Release) - On Friday, April 14, 2023, a high-speed vehicle pursuit was initiated by Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office on Highway 281 in Alice and ended in Robstown on Highway 77.

The suspect led law enforcement agencies through Driscoll, at speeds over 100 mph as they approached Robstown on Highway 77. The pursuit eventually ended on U.S. Highway 77 North and County Road 48, outside of Robstown, after spike strips were successfully deployed by Nueces County Constable Precinct 5 Deputies.

As the vehicle came to a stop, four males bailed out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Each were apprehended a short time later.

Three of the male passengers were later determined to be undocumented immigrants and were transferred to the custody of U.S. Border Patrol. The male driver was taken into custody by Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver is facing several criminal charges to include; Evading Arrest or Detention in a Motor Vehicle and Smuggling of Persons. All criminal charges are being filed by the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office.
