Funding of Facility Construction and Capital Improvements

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The Corpus Christi City Council approved the publication of a Notice of Intention to issue up to $21,000,000 in certificates of obligation bonds to fund facility construction and capital improvements approved in the Fiscal Year 2022 Capital Improvement Budget. 

The City Council adopted a Capital Improvement Budget with $18,014,500 in projects that were to be funded with certificates of obligation.

Those projects include:

  • Improvements to Solid Waste facilities

  • Parks & Recreation Warehouse Facility

  • Citywide Library facility improvements

  • The new Police Training Academy

  • Improvements to the City Hall including skylight replacement and HVAC improvements

An additional project for improvements to the Health Department building was identified after the Capital Improvement Budget was approved.  A total of $2,000,000 will be added to the amount to be issued for a total of $20,014,500 in projects. 

The next step will take place at the June 14 Council meeting where the City Council will vote to authorize the issuance of the bonds.
