CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - On April 6, 2025, at 1226 am, Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department Gang Unit, observed a vehicle on the 400 block of Naval Air Station Dr. Officers recognized the driver to be WANTED felon, 45 year old Aaron Granberry.

Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle fled the area making no attempt to stop for police. Granberry had a Parole Violation warrant through Pardon and Parole Board Austin; possession of firearm by a felon, aggravated assault on a public servant, possession of a controlled substance, and evading arrest in a vehicle.

Officers initially pursued the vehicle, but the pursuit was ultimately terminated for the safety of citizens and Officers. 

Officers began checking possible locations for Granberry and located him at a residence on the 6000 block of Rio Vista Ave. Granberry, still inside the vehicle, retreated to the back yard of the property.

On duty SWAT Officers, along with the Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT) were on scene and for several hours Officers communicated with Granberry to surrender peacefully. 

While communicating with Officers, the vehicle Granberry was sitting in caught fire and he was forced to exit the vehicle, and taken into custody.

Granberry was arrested and charged with the initial parole violation warrant, and additional charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, evading arrest with a vehicle, and resisting arrest.
