Don't Rush to Flush
Corpus Christi, TEXAS (News Release) – Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to potential accidental poisoning, misuse, and overdose. Project H.O.P.E. and the Coastal Bend Council of Governments have partnered together to install a MedSafe Unit inside the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation’s Onsite Pharmacy. “Holding onto expired and unused medications puts individuals at a higher risk of misusing or improperly disposing of medications,” shares Project H.O.P.E.’s Coalition Coordinator, Jonathan Martinez.
With the help of the Coastal Bend Council of Governments, Project H.O.P.E. (Health Outreach Prevention Education) at The Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation installed a MedSafe Unit, a medication collection receptacle, to allow members of the community the ability dispose of medication safely. The MedSafe Unit is located inside the Coastal Bend Wellness Pharmacy at 2882 Holly Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415. Members of the community can drop off expired and unused medications Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 5:30pm. Don’t Rush to Flush. You can now drop off your expired and unused medications for proper disposal with our pharmacy team.
Project H.O.P.E. is a Community Coalition Partnership that addresses the use and misuse of alcohol, tobacco, and prescription drugs.
Project H.O.P.E. aims to mobilize the community to implement evidence-based environmental strategies and policy changes related to substance use prevention and behavioral health promotion.
