CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — (News Release) The City of Corpus Christi is monitoring national dockworkers strike that went into effect at midnight at ports along the East Coast and the Texas Gulf Coast. The City of Corpus Christi’s Economic Development Department is working with partners across the area to determine how the strike could affect South Texas.

Those agencies include:

  • Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation

  • San Patricio Economic Development Corporation

  • Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

  • Port of Corpus Christi

  • Nueces County

  • Local Retailers

The strike stems from a contract dispute over wages and automation between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Association (USMX).
