City Drought Resilience Program
City of Corpus Christi
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) – Just weeks after the Drought Resilience Workforce Stability Grant Program was established to support local businesses affected by the ongoing drought, nearly a dozen businesses have received assistance through the City of Corpus Christi’s Office of Economic Development in partnership with LiftFund, Inc.
Launched on March 14, the program is funded through a collaboration with the City of Corpus Christi’s Type B Corporation and administered by LiftFund, allocating $2 million to support small businesses. Eligible companies can receive up to $50,000 to help cover payroll costs and retain current employees and contractors.
"Through our partnership, this initiative showcases our dedication to fostering community resilience and economic stability,” said Arturo Marquez, Director of the Office of Economic Development. “We are also turning challenges into opportunities by empowering businesses with prompt interventions and strong collaborations to ensure a brighter future for our city.”
Only about a quarter of the total funding, or $550,000, has been utilized. The program will continue to offer funding until the allocated resources are exhausted.
To be eligible, businesses must:
Be located within the Corpus Christi city limits
Have been operational for at least 12 months before applying
Demonstrate continuous business activity
Employ a minimum of one full-time employee
Exhibit a 20 percent decline in revenue or workforce due to Stage 3 restrictions
Be directly affected by the current drought restrictions
Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
