Christmas Traffic Stop

Christmas Traffic Stop

BISHOP - The Bishop Police Department was able to bring a few more smiles to residents with their “Operation Blue Santa” program thanks to the generosity of the Bishop community. The program had a few extra gift card and toys that were leftover and the extra gifts were issued to the Bishop PD dayshift patrol officers to pass out to citizens as they worked on Christmas Day.

Yesterday afternoon, Bishop Officer Cristhian Salazar and Nueces County Pct-3 Constable Deputy Matt Caffey conducted a traffic stop in the area of 4th Street and (BUS) Hwy 77. During the traffic stop the officers learned that the driver had recently lost two daughters in a fatality accident in the Petronila area that the agency responded to.

According the department’s Facebook page, the officers used the opportunity to provide the family with an extra gift card from Wal-Mart.

“Both officers were truly humbled to be in a position to help this family in some small way, and this is truly at the core of the Bishop Police Department’s mission statement: “Committed to serving our Community”.

Below is dash cam and body cam video of the traffic stop.
