The City is Addressing Chlorine Supply and Delivery Issues

City of Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — (News Release) The City of Corpus Christi is addressing current statewide chlorine supply and delivery issues critical to our water treatment processes at O.N. Stevens Water Treatment Plant.

This situation stems from several events, including disruptions caused by Hurricane Beryl and logistical challenges with our chlorine shipments.  The disruption has impacted the delivery of a 90-ton chlorine rail car and additional one-ton cylinders.

Corpus Christi Water (CCW) is working to address any potential disruption to the treatment process. Treatment processes have not been affected nor are they anticipated to be, and CCW continues to meet all regulatory requirements.

To mitigate the disruption, one-ton chlorine cylinders from a nearby plant will arrive this afternoon, and an additional backup delivery from Houston will arrive tomorrow. A 90-ton rail car delivery will also arrive early tomorrow. Customers should rest assured that these measures will ensure continued water operations.

You can also find updates on Corpus Christi Water on social media channels on Facebook @CCTXWater and X @CCTXWater.
