CCFD Proposes Fees for Fire Protection Services Outside City Limits

CORPUS CHRISTI (News Release) – The Corpus Christi Fire Chief Robert Rocha presented the department’s request to adopt fees and rate schedules for Fire Protection Services rendered outside city limits. Most of these calls are EMS-related or single fire unit responses. The costs would be assessed to the individuals’ receiving services.
The Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) does not currently have a methodology for calculating all-inclusive costs for services outside the city’s limits.
The proposed fees include:
Response Readiness Fee (fees instead of City property taxes from homeowners living outside city limits)
Fee for Service (personnel costs accrued during events)
Cost of Equipment (based on FEMA schedule of equipment rates)
Mileage (mileage reimbursements based on IRS rates)
The proposed Fire Response Services fees will not be assessed during Nueces County Mutual Aid Agreement (NCMAA) calls used during natural disasters. The NCMAA agreement requires all parties to maintain necessary equipment and personnel for fire suppression, hazardous materials response, emergency medical support, or special rescue events. The City Council is scheduled to vote on adopting the proposed Fire Protection Service fees on Tuesday, May 24.
