Captain Denny Asbury is Retiring

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - (News Release) After 39 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Corpus Christi, Captain Denny Asbury is retiring.
Captain Asbury began his career in 1985 and graduated from the 40th Police Academy. He served as a patrol officer before being promoted to Senior Officer on September 22, 1988. He also served as a Field Training Officer and transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division as an Investigator in January of 1993.

Captain Asbury was promoted to Lieutenant in January of 1998, and held supervisory positions as a Lieutenant in the Uniform Division, Internal Affairs and the Backgrounds/Recruiting Unit.
In April of 2007, Captain Asbury was promoted to Captain. As a Captain he served as the Uniform Division’s Executive Officer and was a District Captain. He also supervised the following units: Crime Reduction Unit, Internal Affairs, the Inspections Unit, the Gang Unit, the Criminal Investigation Division, the Organized Crime and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and his current assignment is the Captain over the Narcotics/Vice Investigation Division.
Captain Asbury served on the City Public Integrity Team and was the Emergency Operations Center Liaison.
Captain Asbury possesses a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Critical Incident Management from Saint Leo University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Southwest Texas State University. He is also a graduate of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), the FBI National Academy and Leadership Corpus Christi.
