CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - (News Release) The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force is warning residents about a growing trend called jugging. This crime involves thieves watching you as you withdraw cash from ATMs, banks, or stores and then targeting you or your vehicle for theft.

How to Stay Safe:

Be aware of your surroundings—Look for anyone who may be watching you too closely.

Secure your cash discreetly—Avoid counting or displaying large amounts of money in public.

Don’t leave cash or valuables in your car—Thieves are watching and waiting for you to step away.

Drive away immediately after a withdrawal—Don’t linger in the parking lot.

Report suspicious behavior—Call CCPD if you notice someone following you or acting suspiciously.
