Arrest Made in Stabbing Case

On Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 11:39 am, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Ayers Street in reference to a stabbing with injuries.
Officers arrived and located a 56-year-old male walking in the middle of the street, yelling at a 57-year-old male. The male was immediately detained. Officers found that the 57-year-old male had a stab wound and immediately provided medical aid until Medics arrived. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officer investigation found that the two males had a verbal argument on the sidewalk and the 56-year-old male, identified as Rolando Mendoza, displayed a knife and stabbed the victim. Mendoza was ultimately arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the City Detention Center for booking.
