Homicide on South 19th Street in Kingsville

KINGSVILLE, TEXAS (News Release) – The Kingsville Police Department is investigating a fatal incident that occurred in the early hours of December 15, 2024, at a residence in the 700 block of South 19th Street.
At approximately 2:22 a.m., officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance and assault at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered 24-year-old Raul Esebio Garcia, Jr., suffering from multiple stab wounds. Kingsville Fire Department EMS transported Mr. Garcia to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital Kleberg in critical condition, where he died.
Preliminary findings indicate that Mr. Garcia was reportedly assaulting a female resident of the home when the situation escalated. During the altercation, Mr. Garcia sustained multiple stab wounds. As part of the ongoing investigation, officers arrested 18-year-old Juan Mendez at the scene.
Mr. Mendez is charged with Murder, he also had additional outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Officers transported Mendez to the Kleberg County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau are conducting a comprehensive investigation, reviewing evidence, and gathering witness statements to determine the sequence of events leading up to the iincident.
