HMK Kicks-off Football Season in Scrimmage Against Sinton
By Frank Cardenas
The sun was beaming brightly into Javelina Stadium on Friday night, as the H.M. King Brahmas got a taste of head-to-head football action in their first scrimmage of the season.
The Sinton Pirates made their way to Kingsville to tussle with the Bulls in what was a brief, yet intense unofficial contest on Pepsi field.
The Brahmas showcased their first and second team offensive and defensive squads, while a few players were unable to participate due to injury.
Some struggles on both sides of the football were apparent to Head Coach Michael Davila during the scrimmage. However, he continuously preached a “next play mentality” to that pushed his team through the matchup; while also getting some action against an opposition before the first official game of the season.
The Bulls have one more scrimmage to play against the Corpus Christi Moody Trojans later this week, before the officially first game of the season. The date and time for this week’s scrimmage is still to be determined.
The first official game of the season for HMK will be on Aug. 26 against the Robstown Cottonpickers in Kingsville is set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff time.
