The 7th Annual Beeping Eggstravaganza for the Blind

Corpus Christi Police Department

CORPUS CHRISTI - (News Release) The 7th Annual Beeping Eggstravaganza for the Blind, was held on April 2nd at the Texas State Aquarium.

Each year, the Corpus Christi Police Department Bomb Squad, STLB-South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind, and Health & Human Services Blind Children’s Program join forces to host a unique Easter Egg hunt for children who might otherwise struggle to keep up with their sighted peers when it comes to finding Easter treasures. This event is free and exclusively for children who are blind or visually impaired and their immediate family members.

So how do children who are blind or visually impaired find Easter eggs? The larger than average, brightly colored eggs beep, allowing the children to use their hearing to guide them to the eggs. These eggs are constructed by Corpus Christi Bomb Squad Technicians.
