$244,950 Seized During Traffic Stop

Kleberg County Attorney’s Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force

KLEBERG COUNTY, TEXAS - (News Release) On Monday May 20, 2024, Special Agents with the Task Force working Operation Stone Garden, conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 77 within Kleberg County, Texas.

While speaking to the driver of the vehicle Agents believed he might have been involved in some type of criminal activity. Consent to search the vehicle was denied at which point a K9 was deployed, giving a positive alert to the vehicle.

While searching the vehicle Agents discovered two after-market compartments. A total of twenty-eight (28) bundles containing US currency were removed from the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was also in possession of a firearm. During the investigation it was determined the US currency was proceeds from criminal activity. The total amount of US currency seized was $244,950. The Task Force would like to thank the US Border Patrol SIU RGV Sector for their continued support and assistance with this case.
