The Corpus Christi Chamber Music Society with support from Del Mar College’s Music Department and the Coastal Bend Community Foundation present the string quartet, The Dalí Quartet, in performance with saxophonist Timothy McAllister in Wolfe Recital Hall on the DMC Heritage Campus at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17. Acclaimed for bringing Latin American string quartet repertoire to an equal standing alongside Classical and Romantic canon, tours of The Dalí Quartet’s “Classical Roots, Latin Soul” programming have reached enthusiastic audiences across the United States, Canada and South America. Hailed as a virtuoso by The New York Times, an “exemplary soloist” by Gramophone Magazine and “a titan of contemporary music and the instrument, in general” by The Cleveland Plain Dealer, saxophonist Tim McAllister’s career has taken him to over 20 countries since his debut at age 16 with the Houston Civic Symphony. Open to the public, this performance is free for DMC students with a valid student I.D. with tickets available through the CCMS for all other attendees, including $5 for those up to age 25 and $30 general admission.
