Masterclass at Del Mar College with Violinist Dr. Elisabeth Adkins

  • Wolfe Recital Hall 101 Baldwin Boulevard Corpus Christi, TX, 78404 United States (map)

For onlookers, an instrumental masterclass is as much of a learning experience as it is for participating musicians, and on Thursday, Nov. 13, student violinists from Del Mar College, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Independent School District will have the opportunity to learn from a master with the public invited to observe.

Current Concertmaster with the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra (CCSO), violinist Dr. Elisabeth Adkins will share her expertise during a masterclass scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the DMC Music Department’s Wolfe Recital Hall on the Heritage Campus.

After 31 years as Associate Concertmaster of the National Symphony in Washington, D.C., Dr. Adkins joined faculty at Texas Christian University in fall 2014 where she serves as Professor of Violin while also continuing her orchestral career with the CCSO and other ensembles across the country. A noted teacher and chamber music coach, Dr. Adkins gives masterclasses and clinics and is in demand for her expertise in preparing musicians for professional orchestra auditions. The Nov. 13 masterclass will culminate with one DMC student, one TAMU-CC student and two CCISD students performing to demonstrate what they’ve learned. Attendance to observe the masterclass is free.
