Del Mar College Cultural Programs Series Presents a Fall Recital and Masterclass with Euphonium Virtuoso Mauro Martins
His visit at Del Mar College is an opportunity to listen and learn from a master. Del Mar College’s Cultural Programs Series and the DMC Music Department present internationally acclaimed euphonium virtuoso Mauro Martins with two scheduled engagements, a fall recital and a masterclass, on the Heritage Campus Sept. 10 and 11. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, Martins will perform in Wolfe Recital Hall with accompanist Dr. Theresa Chen on piano featuring repertoire by Adam Wesoloski, Kevin Day, Edvard Grieg, Telmo Marques, Sigvart Dagsland and Gilles Rocha. A 2019 first prize winner at the Concours International of Saxhorn, Euphonium and Tuba of Tours in France, Martins has performed extensively across Europe, Asia and the United States and has taught masterclasses wherever he travels. On Sept. 11 at 1 p.m., he will mentor DMC tuba and euphonium students during a masterclass scheduled in Room 101 of Music Building A. The public is invited to observe. Martins currently teaches in Harstad, Norway, while also offering his masterclasses to music students around the world. Both the recital and masterclass are free.
