Del Mar College Drama Presents, “Return to the Forbidden Planet”

  • Del Mar College 101 Baldwin Blvd Corpus Christi, TX, 78404 United States (map)

Grab your nickels and get ready to feed the jukebox! Del Mar Drama with the Art & Drama Department presents their Spring production, “Return to the Forbidden Planet,” for a two-weekend run, including Friday and Saturday, April 10-11, and Thursday through Saturday, April 16-18, at 7:30 p.m. each night in the Bartlett Theatre on the Heritage Campus. Blending Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” with campy Sci-fi movies from the 1950s, along with plenty of classics from the golden age of rock ‘n’ roll, this high-energy musical is sure to provide  loads of fun as you blast off on a routine flight and crash into the planet D’Illyria, where the adventure unfolds to tunes such as “Great Balls of Fire,” “Good Vibrations,” “Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood,” “Young Girl”  and “Gloria.” The planet is inhabited by sinister scientist Dr. Prospero; his delightful daughter Miranda; Ariel, a faithful robot; and an uncontrollable monster. “Return to the Forbidden Planet” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. Patrons are advised the production may contain mature content that may not be suitable for younger audience members. Tickets range from $5 to $15 and are now on sale online at delmardrama.ludus.com/. The Drama Box Office opens at 6:30 p.m. before each performance. So, take off on a musical adventure with Del Mar Drama and get your tickets now!
