Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Executive Director Ed Serna provided a status update to address unemployment in Texas during a Facebook live post on Wednesday, April 8.

Many Texans are trying to apply online or by phone but have run into problems with the TWC not able to take the phone calls or the website is down.

The TWC has 4 call centers in Texas and will add 3 more call centers this week. This will add 750 additional people to help with the influx of calls. Additional servers will be set in place to help manage the online system.

According to The Houston Chronicle the benefit claims system relies on technology that’s three decades old.

The best time to use the TWC website online portal is between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. to file or check the status of your claim.
